I had been through a long separation, then divorce and was feeling disillusioned and isolated. Moved to Northeast Minneapolis and met some great new people one of whom I was attracted to, but she was with someone. As I wrote the song I found I had been sleeping and was in a haze and didn't think I would have those feelings again. It was great to feel wide awake again.

Wide Awake
Words & Music Chris Thompson
A, D, E
I been sleeping
I been in a haze
Now I can't think of nothing but your beautiful face
I remember how it feels
I brought you flowers
I made you smile
We talked for hours
Walked for a country mile
I remember how it feels
I'm wide awake
Make a promise
Cross my heart
Past forgotten
It's a brand new start
I remember how it feels
I'm wide awake
