This song came about from strange dating experiences by both myself and some others close to me. One in particular focused on religion and belief. Unfortunately religious beliefs were chosen over a person. At the time it made me very angry and frustrated that someone would be so inclined. It still does.
lyrics
Second Place
V1 Bm D G
Every time you say you're sorry
Every time you crawl away
Every time you say it's good enough
It's just fine
Don't take less than what you're worth
V1
Next in line tell me what's your number
Seal your grievance with a kiss
Just can't fake it when you're on the edge your heart pounds
I'll tell you just what I'm worth
Chorus
Bm, D, G, Bm, A, G
You came is second to his god
But you still want to change his mind
All but done before it starts
Just end up with a broken heart
Why does it have to end this way
Second place
V3
When you feel the pain is over
When you feel like moving on
Find that what you seek is right here right now
Don't take less than what you're worth
